Van stuck in ditch, tree blocking one lane, overgrown vegetation restricting width of Pudding Lane even then council wide vehicle traverses road causing discomfort to locals.

A frightened driver scrapes their paintwork on side bushes to avoid crash After watching with horror local cars faced with the choice of crashing into a council Highway maintenance vehicle, or scraping their paintwork on the jagged, stiff and extremely long overgrowth along the banks of pudding lane - our Chairman Wilson Chowdhry reported the dangerous length of bushes, vines and trees to Essex Council.  Mr Chowdhry has also suggested that wide vehicle should not be allowed on the road, due to the cramped space, winding nature of the road and dangerous banks of mud that the same day had led to a small van tilting over and getting stuck. Van could be seen stuck in side ditch for hours despite this danger being reported to council by Wilson Chowdhry 5 weeks ago. What made matters worse was that for several days tree debris left on the road after the recent high winds had not been removed by the local council, creating a further danger on the road and adding to the conge...

Police patrols increase in our ward from tonight after rise in local burglaries - two men arrested last week!

URGENT BURGLARY WARNING!!!! After a series of burglaries in Chigwell local police have started extra patrols in our area to stem the crime, starting from today. On Saturday Thursday night a burglary on Canterbury Close had an identical modus operandi as a burglary that was undertaken on the home of one of our board members in November, who livecd onoy 10 feet away from the current targetd property.  In each of the burglaries access to the home was obtained by forcing entry via the side entrance gate to the home and then smashing a rear patio door to unlock and enter the premises. Another feature of the crime was the use of a specific make of car which on both occasions was a grey Audi with blacked out windows. During the latest attempted break-in one resident was at home.  However, thankfully we have been advised  thast they were not injured. Local police have shared good news with us that two men using a dark Audi for these crimes were arrested earlier la...

Pudding Lane repair work completed but little has changed.

Image
On January 10th Mr Chowdhry reported the dilapidated  state of Pudding Lane to Essex Council's Highway team after 5 vehicles crashed on the road on Saturday 4th January.   He was advised that an assemement would be undertaken in an immediate email. On Wednesday Mr Chowdhry was sent a standard email stating an assessment had taken place and that it was not high on the list of priorities but would be scheduled for repair on their next works timetable. Rather bizarrely on Thursday Mr Chowdhry receive a further three emails, the first said the works were to be scheduled following inspection. The second only 3 hours later confirmed works had begun.  The contents of thirds is displayed below for your perusal. Reference Number:  2649812 Issue:  carriageway defects Location:  PUDDING LANE Current status: this issue has been made safe We have investigated, risk assessed and recorded the issue, and initial works to make it safe have been completed. Government changes to section 106 funding could lead to more social housing and no logistical increase to local infrastructure.

Image
Mr Chowdhry was invited to attend an Epping Forest Tenant and Leaseholders Panel Meeting on 29th January 2020 at Epping Civic offices. The meeting is an opportunity for official residents association to feed into council teams such as highways, general cleansing and housing. A number of local councillors and council officers were present. At the meeting Mr Chowdhry learned about a growing number of residents in temporary housing in Epping Forest.  Fault for this was placed on councils in London who were placing their social housing tenants in Essex to save costs through cheaper rents and then off loading them. Social housing was said to be inadequate for the areas and plans are afoot to build more social housing with brownfield sites being sought across Epping.  An alarming concern raised at the meeting was impending changes to Section 106 planning obligations placed on large propert developments.  Traditionally such funding was earmarked for social benefit such...

Gravel Lane police chase leads to 'false plates' vehicle crash and arrest of three young men

Image
Local residents were forced to reroute their journeys on Gravel Lane after a blue road sign stating 'Police Collision' and several cones essentially closed of the road just past Aspen House. Later we discovered the incident occurred after a police chase of a suspect vehicle. Alerted by ANPR recognition of false license plates, local Essex Police pursued a silver volkswagon Golf along Gravel Lane, however during the ensuing car chase the suspect car crashed into an oncoming car while traversing a bend. Three young men were arrested and held by police at the entrance to Aspen House, for failing to stop for police and then later taken to hospital for medical assessment. Its is believed they have nio serious injuries. The two passengers from the other vehicle were were treated by London Ambulance Services at athe scene, after first being extracted from their vehicle by London Fire Service. Its is believed that injuries to both passengers are not critical. Pol...

Redbridge sports centre 'double dipping' parking fiasco meets court disapproval

This article has important information about 'double dipping' a known ANPR parking issue that results in unwarranted tickets.  Local residents using private car parks should read this article to understand the problem better when challenging incorrect parking notices. For many years Redbridge Sports Centre in Barkingside have been charging people for the privilege of parking in their car park - as if their fees were not exorbitant enough! The signs placed by the parking management company known as Parking Charge Ltd (PCL), state in no uncertain terms that a 20 min charge exemption applies for vehicles entering and exiting the site for the purposes of dropping of and collecting users of the centre. Rather bizarrely Mr Chowdhry a former resident of Ilford was bemused when he was faced with a CCJ placed against his name by PCL, for an alleged parking offence, when applying for a mortgage transfer for one of his buy-to-let properties. Mr Chowdhry submitted a court ...
