Thames Water Says Repairs Are Complete — But Chigwell Residents Enter Fifth Day Without Water

Thames Water says repairs to multiple burst mains have now been completed and that water supplies are being restored. But for many residents, including Chigwell Row Residents Association Chair Wilson Chowdhry and his household, the crisis is far from over. After days of disruption, Thames Water announced at 8:55pm on 12 August that repairs on High Road, Daisy Road and Chigwell Road had been completed. The company said engineers were now “carefully recharging the network” to increase pressure and restore water to remaining customers. Thames Water is working towards all customers being back in supply by Friday , although it says many will have their water restored sooner, depending on how quickly the network recovers. That distinction is important. The repairs may have been completed, but the water has not yet returned to everyone. Persistent Advocacy Leads to Major Pavement Repairs in Chigwell Row

The residents of Daylop Drive in Chigwell Row have been given a long-overdue morale boost, thanks to the tireless efforts of Chigwee Roww community campaigner Wilson Chowdhry. For months, the condition of the road’s pavement had been steadily deteriorating, making it not only unsightly but also hazardous for pedestrians. Despite the worsening situation, repairs were not forthcoming, until Mr. Chowdhry took the matter into his own hands. Wilson Chowdhry, began documenting the state of the pavement earlier this year. He consistently took photographs of the defects, highlighting cracks, uneven surfaces, and general wear that were becoming more of a risk to residents. Armed with his photographic evidence, Mr. Chowdhry filed repeated complaints with Essex Highways, persistently pressing for action. His tenacity did not stop there; he even arranged to meet Council officers directly on Daylop Drive, showing them firsthand the poor condition of the pavement and pressing for immediate repairs. ...

During a brief preliminary hearing at the Old Bailey concerning the tragic 5-person sword attack in Hainault resulting in the death of 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin, it was decided that a full trial would convene on February 3, 2025. Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, the defendant, was escorted into the courtroom by a police officer and court official, appearing aloof and distant behind a partition of glass. In a peculiar moment, he fixed a menacing gaze upon me for approximately two minutes, a futile attempt at intimidation given his confined circumstances. Police maintain a presence on the road as flowers and other tributes continue to be left at the corner of Laing Road and New North Road . Today, the somber police cordon along New North Road has been lifted, allowing members of the community to gather and set up a shrine in memory of the tragically slain youth, Daniel Anjorin. Local residents, deeply affected by the loss, have left floral tributes and plush toys at the site to commemorate the life of the beloved teenager. Daniel Anjorin RIP Daniel Anjorin, a 14-year-old teenager, was brutally killed in an appalling attack on Tuesday, April 30th, by Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, of Newham, a Spanish/Brazilian man armed with a short sword. Disturbing videos circulating on social media depict the harrowing assault, demonstrating the perpetrator's intent to harm innocent individuals.
