Police patrols increase in our ward from tonight after rise in local burglaries - two men arrested last week!

URGENT BURGLARY WARNING!!!!

After a series of burglaries in Chigwell local police have started extra patrols in our area to stem the crime, starting from today.

On Saturday Thursday night a burglary on Canterbury Close had an identical modus operandi as a burglary that was undertaken on the home of one of our board members in November, who livecd onoy 10 feet away from the current targetd property.  In each of the burglaries access to the home was obtained by forcing entry via the side entrance gate to the home and then smashing a rear patio door to unlock and enter the premises.

Another feature of the crime was the use of a specific make of car which on both occasions was a grey Audi with blacked out windows.

During the latest attempted break-in one resident was at home.  However, thankfully we have been advised  thast they were not injured.

Local police have shared good news with us that two men using a dark Audi for these crimes were arrested earlier last week.  Sadly the new crime in Canterbury Close would suggest another team is also undertaking these crimes. Police have info on the persons involved and the vehicle and an investigation is underway.

PC Kerly, has advised people to be vigilant.  Please share any videos of any people acting suspiciously or leaflet dropping with us so we can forward them on to them.

If you have not installed, motion detector activated bright lights, CCTV Cameras or a theft alarm we would advise you to do so.  Such deterrents may not prohibit all crime but they vastly reduce your chances of being a victim.

One resident has shared an image of a local suspect that police are interested in and we would appreciate any intelligence you may have on this man.  Do be vigilant if you see him in your area.  The same source believes that grey Volkswagons have been used in the scoping of homes for burglaries, which may mean the three men arrested yesterday by MET police just outside their jurisdiction on Gravel Road may have been involved.  You can read more (here).

Wilson Chowdhry, Chairman of the Association, said:

"We must continue to stay vigilant and look out for one another.

"Every day our community network is growing and I can feal the impact of this already.

"Local police are communicating better with us and using our shared intelligence to eat away at local crime.

"As we speak with one another we are better to map our crime and the areas affeceted and early warning will continue to deter crime as criminals will seek easier pickings.

"We are working on a proposal to reintroduce the security patrols to Chigwell Row but through the use of a professional service.

"I will keep you updated."
