The one Yellow Bus being used for Chigwell is filled to capacity!

We received a really pleasing confirmation from Epping Forest Community Transport, that the one yellow bus serving Chigwell is filled to capacity.  

The former free local bus service which was introduced to Chigwell by the former councillors, is facing potential termination. Fortunately, local people are making themselves heard  by using the bus and signing our petition. We still have a chance to preserve the bus if we continue the challenge and you can still add to the campaign (click here)

The passenger data is pretty solid confirmation that the bus is desired and useful to our community.  However, we still have to convince our Parish Councillors to support the scheme.  This battle is not over by a long stretch.  Though many of us would love to see the full benefit of the £800,000 Section 106 agreement money from Chigwell Primary Academy, utilised to make this bus free again, councillors remain unconvinced.  

A free service would mean we could have a second bus operating allowing for a scheduled route as well as the more targeted routes of the current system.

These statistics give us a chance to challenge for long-term preservation of the service, which may otherwise have disappeared.  

Moreover, only a really daft councillor could argue that the bus is surplus to requirements.  

Sadly during the Full Council meeting yesterday when my question calling for councillors to commit to preserving the bus via the original £800,000 fund - none of them spoke. It seems that many have already made up their minds...

Party line politics will destroy our community, unless we challenge it to preserve our local identity.

This week we haven’t quite reached the target we set, however, Epping Forest Community Transport  completed 79 trips plus Dial-A-Ride trips.

 

Week Commencing 12th Oct 2020 Epping Forest Community Transport has one space on the DaRT 8 service AM & PM:

Reducing the carbon footprint within Chigwell

Reducing Accidents

Reducing congestion 

 

This means the one Minibus running for Chigwell Parish is Full to capacity

 

Epping Forest Community Transport is still building  in your area, I have contacted Chigwell senior citizen club - Avice Mason.

 

Please would you inform me who you have contacted ,where you have advised, published the New DaRT 8 Transport Services offer to the Chigwell Residents from  Epping Forest Community Transport.

Justice Unveiled: Preliminary Proceedings in the Hainault Sword Attack Trial

During a brief preliminary hearing at the Old Bailey concerning the tragic 5-person sword attack in Hainault resulting in the death of 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin, it was decided that a full trial would convene on February 3, 2025. Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, the defendant, was escorted into the courtroom by a police officer and court official, appearing aloof and distant behind a partition of glass. In a peculiar moment, he fixed a menacing gaze upon me for approximately two minutes, a futile attempt at intimidation given his confined circumstances. The prosecution outlined the case, detailing the attack on 5 individuals, which began with a collision with an unidentified person and escalated to the wielding of a sword. When confronted by the victim, Mr. Monzo callously retorted, 'I don't care, I'll kill you anyway,' before assaulting him. What the Dickens is going on in Chigwell?

At the end of our journey, local history buffs congregated under the Dickens Oak. Please join our rapidly growing community facebook page   (click here) On Saturday 5th December 10 people from Chigwell and the surrounding area travelled across the various sites in Chigwell Row and Chigwell Village that had a connection to the world famous author Charles Dickens.  Initially people met just behind the car park of the Maypole pub The tour began at the Dido Oak in Hainault Forest accessible via Sylvan Way.  This is a veteran oak (old but not quite ancient a list of definitions can be found here ) that was once made famous in Tatler Magazine back in 1903, due to an article about the Hermit of Hainault, a man named William Bell otherwise known as Dido who once lived in the forest under the cover of some sackcloth.  In his pocket he carried herbal roots, snakes, newts and anything else he could make money form.  Apparently he used to say: 'They call me Doctor Bell, Bec...
