Seeking event day restrictions for roads nearby Hainault Park

Buses put on for the Halloween Fest last year helped reduce parking burden, however much of the reduction was also due to extremely foul weather.

CRRA had set a question to the Full Parish Council meeting on 8th October calling for a review of the potential for Event Day restrictions on Road close in proximity to Hainault Country Park and Forest.  This was after a series of emails to Essex County Councillor Gagan Mohindra have not been replied to.

Similar parking restrictions can be observed near Wembley stadium, many football grounds and other venues across the UK.

Moreover, Redbridge Council have been permitting an increasing number of event during the last few summers.  This has  adversely affected local people with the advent of significant increased parking burden.

Not only would such restrictions improve the quality of life for affected residents, but it would also give us a buffer against potential COVID-19 infections, should the Government decide to permit 'socially-distanced' events next summer.

Unfortunately, our Parish Councillors refused to answer the question this week, so we all have to wait a while longer.  In the meanwhile I have sent the email to South Essex Parking Partnership and hope to have their response in 5 days.

Of course parking is not the only problem associated with Hainault events, antisocial behaviour, vandalism, stabbings and an arson attack have been previously encountered (click here)

A petition that calls for a unified approach by Redbridge and Epping District Council in tackling the aftermath of events at Hainault Park has been created. Please sign our petition (here).
