Thames Water must begin overhaul of Chigwell Water supply infrastructure to stop water flow interruptions

Dear Thames Water,

RE: Water issues in Chigwell.

Residents of Chigwell Row have been disturbed by the incompetence shown by Thames Water which is causing a major loss of a water resource and causing huge discomfort, health concerns and in some cases anxiety to those in our community.

A brief look through our community whatsapp group which has over 300 members reveals this list of dates for water loss to our supply to residential homes. Outages occurred on these dates:

01.07.19

27.08.19

09.01.20

19.04.20

29.05.20

16.06.20

19.08.20

22.08.20

There was also extremely low pressure water (a dribble) on 14th Sept.

It should be noted that some of these dates are a start date for two days of no water.

Local residents find this extremely unacceptable and have been asking for a permanent solution to the problem.  The main reason purported by Thames Water for these concerns has been a problem with a booster that has caused flooding and repairs uniformly take place on Manford Way.  An image of the April incident can be viewed on this article we published on our community blog (click here)

Worse still we have constant flooding throughout the year along Hainault Road.  Because there are no residential homes here I am sure you are getting less complaints, despite the more frequent flooding.  A similar problem is occurring along Abridge Road.

Every time it floods on these roads local residents have to endure huge traffic delays as the roads are all important thoroughfares. You can view images and watch videos of the problem (here)

Moreover, the tap drought causes problems with hygiene, dehydration, and sanitation. Thames Water may end up getting sued for this constant health concern.

Can you please investigate the three areas of concern and let me know how you intend to remedy them.  It is clear to me and other residents of Chigwell Row that a strategic overview is required of our existing water supply infrastructure and we await your response.

This message is being shared with our group.

Thank You
