Frustrating number of leaks on Hainault Road causes another unbelievably long road block.
Thames Water keep getting things wrong with boosters and leaks at Manford Way and repairs inevitably cause traffic congestion and take days to resolve. Worse still in the course of my two-and-a-half years living in Chigwell, I must have experienced 8 tap-droughts! Whilst living in Redbridge I experienced one in 42 years from my recollection.
Thames Water are also constantly repairing leaks along Hainault Road. Inexorably their repairs cause havoc with traffic having to take extremely long alternative routes, all of which are already heavily congested.
Watch this video to see how much water was wasted and how many staff it took to resolve the problem.
The only consolation was my daughters excitement...si some of the inconvenience was excused. But the frequent water waste at this despite deserves some environmental scrutiny.
What exacerbates my frustration is knowing how important a resource water is and how insouciant both companies are in regards to this abject waste. As clients we are being hijacked by the very same companies, by paying for their mistakes with increasingly expensive utility bills, despite their failure to address a known problem.
Today I have written to Thames water and asked them if they can find a solution to ongoing problems with the booster at Manford Way, which constantly trip and causes residents the annoyance of long periods without any water in their homes. I had written a previous account of concerns with regarding the Thames Water booster issue which can be read (here)

I have also written to them seeking a more permanent repair to the regularly leaking water along Hainault Road. I have also raised a question with our Parish Council who must hold both companies accountable for the numerous serious inconveniences to Chigwell Residents.
