Death of Prince Philip leads to fitting tribute by All Saints Church

After the death of Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh on 9th April,  All Saints Church, Romford Road led the way locally for those who wanted to mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II's husband of 73 years.

Within two hours of the announcement of hus death All Saints Church had raised the union jack at half mast on the flagpole of their tower.  This is particularly prominent in Chigwell as the tower is the highest accessible point in Essex.

On Sunday 11th at the main church service Vicar Paula led a rememberance for HRH Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.  Rev Paula, said:

"We sung the national anthem as a prayer for Her Majesty and as an act of solidarity for eveyone who is mourning HRH the Duke of Edinburgh.

"You'll have noticed our flag at half mast as a sign of our respect during this week of official mourning."

Vicar Paula has said for those of you who have missed last weeks service, there is another chance to pay your respects as HRH the Duke of Edinburgh will be included in the intercessions on 18th April 2021.

The official funeral for Prince Philip will be held this Saturday but will be a private affair at his wishes and due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Please leave any messages of condolence below this post.
