Essex Traffic cops positive policing leads to arrest of parolee fugitive now to serve prison recall and face charges of burglary and drug crime.

A motorist who sped dangerously away from police along Romford Road on Friday 5th March, and who evaded several spike strip (tyre deflation devices) road closures, was eventually caught by brave Essex Police officers.

Numerous police vehicles and two helicopters were involved in the apprehension of the dangerous driver who almost crashed into our chairman Wilson Chowdhry in the right-hand filter lane leading to New North Road.

The fugitive driver breached a road closure at the junction of Romford Road and New North Road, by swerving dangerously onto a traffic island to avoid the spike strip. Though it seems his front-passenger-side wheel was blown by the strip in later images.

The spike strip was quickly lifted as a panda car in pursuit chased the fugitive who later drove his car onto Staggart Green, where he was arrested by waiting police officers despite a failed attempt to flee by foot.

Police officers and vehicles had been stationed on most of the roads intersecting with New North Road, in anticipation.

The chase crossed through Chigwell and Redbridge crossing two police jurisdictions of Essex and East London as the driver attempted to escape justice. Resulting in a joint operation with the Metropolitan Police and National Police Air Service London.

The Metropolitan Police's Roads and Transport teams tweeted: "East RPT (Roads Policing Teams) pursued this vehicle through Essex & Redbridge.

"Occupants decamped and arrested, support from Met Taskforce Dog Support and National Police Air Service London and South East Region.

"Driver arrested for: burglary, recall to Prison, dangerous driving and drugs possession."
