Dangerous Police car chase, road block and use of spike strip but car still escapes

On Friday 5th March 2021 at about 3pm I was narrowly missed by a speeding car along Romford Road as it suddenly crossed into the right hand filter lane on Romford Road, heading onto New North Road.  A small grey car whizzed by me squeezed past a police car waiting at the Romford Road/New North Road junction and fled away. Somehow the vehicle was able to survive a drive over the spike strip (tyre deflation device) without the slightest perturbance.

A police car followed at the same extremely accelerated pace with siren on full and blue splashes of light everywhere, trailing by only a few metres. The Policeman who had laid the spike strip on the road had managed to remove the spike strip only seconds before the chasing panda car crossed the junction.

In shock I watched as the police officer placed the speed spike safely in his vehicle and left driving along Romford Road towards Barking and Dagenham.

I eventually turned along New North Road and was amazed at the number of police cars using their blues and twos as they frantically drove around and began blocking roads and setting up traps.  Many vehicles (I saw more than 30) looked as if they had been parked on corners on wait for some time.  Two police helicopters were scanning our roads from above with clear intent to catch the fugitives.

Quite clearly a very serious police operation was taking place and I have asked local police to share whatever news they can on the operation, which alarmed many local residents and drivers.

I will update you when more is known.  If nothing else I hope to uncover whether the fugitive vehicle was apprehended.
