Free trips for Chigwell people travelling to Buckhurst Way Clinic for COVID-19 vaccination

Chigwell Parish council have agreed to pay for local residents using the EFCT Yellow Bus for journeys to Buckhurst Way Clinic for COVID-19 Vaccinations. Local residents must provide their  have full address confirm that they are registered in Chigwell Parish.

 

If anyone wants to pay for themselves the cost would be:


£6.00 return from Chigwell to Buckhurst Hill Clinic

If going outside the area i.e. Romford, Ilford it will be £4.20 up to 3 miles and 60p thereafter.

 

You will be travelling with others and are able to take a carer/escort (as long as EFCT are informed beforehand).

Passengers would need to be flexible as EFCT may need to meet/collect them so as to fit in with all appointments.

This is to benefit the residents of Chigwell who cannot travel to Buckhurst Way Clinic, 49 Buckhurst Way, Buckhurst Hill IG9 6HP.

Bookings: phone lines will be open Monday to Friday 09.30am – 12.30pm for booking your transport for your vaccination.

** If your appointment for your vaccination is outside of the Epping Forest District please contact Epping Forest Community Transport for assistance.

 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, in line with the Government's guidance, we have put in place a range of measures to keep passengers, our staff and volunteers safe on our transport. 

EFCT is carrying out enhanced cleaning regimes on our vehicles and has put in place social distancing measures, including minimising direct contact with passengers.

Our minibuses have been fitted with bulk heads or safety screens behind the driver. Seat markings to help you to maintain safe distances when travelling.                   Hand sanitiser is available on all our minibuses.

EFCT asks that all passengers wear a face covering/mask unless they are exempt. This is for your own safety, the safety of other passengers and your driver.

What the Dickens, is going on in Chigwell?

At the end of our journey local history buffs congregated under the Dickens Oak. Please join our rapidly growing community facebook page   (click here) On Saturday 5th December 10 people from Chigwell and the surrounding area travelled across the various sites in Chigwell Row and Chigwell Village that had a connection to the world famous author Charles Dickens.  Initially people met just behind the car park of the Maypole pub The tour began at the Dido Oak in Hainault Forest accessible via Sylvan Way.  This is a veteran oak (old but not quite ancient a list of definitions can be found here ) that was once made famous in Tatler Magazine back in 1903, due to an article about the Hermit of Hainault, a man named William Bell otherwise known as Dido who once lived in the forest under the cover of some sackcloth.  In his pocket he carried herbal roots, snakes, newts and anything else he could make money form.  Apparently he used to say: 'They call me Doctor Bell, Because I make my patien

Community Unites in Mourning and Tribute as Murder Trial Looms for Slain Youth Daniel Anjorin

Police maintain a presence on the road as flowers and other tributes continue to be left at the corner of Laing Road and New North Road . Today, the somber police cordon along New North Road has been lifted, allowing members of the community to gather and set up a shrine in memory of the tragically slain youth, Daniel Anjorin. Local residents, deeply affected by the loss, have left floral tributes and plush toys at the site to commemorate the life of the beloved teenager. Daniel Anjorin RIP Daniel Anjorin, a 14-year-old teenager, was brutally killed in an appalling attack on Tuesday, April 30th, by Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, of Newham, a Spanish/Brazilian man armed with a short sword. Disturbing videos circulating on social media depict the harrowing assault, demonstrating the perpetrator's intent to harm innocent individuals.
