A new school bus service will begin in January and will save families that have children attending Debden Park School around £180 a year.  A saving brought about as Epping Forest Community Transport the operator does not charge for holidays and allows cancellations for sickness and school closures, on provision of appropriate notice within their pricing scheme.   In fact residents who use the service pay for the bus in arrears and not in advance.  There will be three pick-up points along the stretch of Lambourne Road from the Two Brewers to The Maypole.  Children will be dropped off into the grounds of the school as a safety measure, introduced following the untimely death of Harley Watson one year ago in a hit and run accident (click here).  EFCT have secured permission from the school.  The bus will operate using a much shorter and quicker route for children using the bus, travelling along Gravel Road and Abridge Road.

Angela Canham the Manager of the service provided the following information:

All users/passengers need to register as a member, to use the service at £15 per year, by completing the attached application form.

The service operates, Monday to Friday inline with school calendar year.

Charge at £3 per day (no refund for days not travelled), this is term time only.

Parents will be able to follow the app for location of the minibus.

Parents will be invoiced each month in arrears

A passenger application can be found (here)

To make this work EFCT need to have 10 passengers booked before the January term.  We hope this helps many families especially those struggling during the COVID crises.

Though CRRA has helped EFCT with designing this school bus route they have not been paid any fee.  The only vested interest is that our Chairman Wilson Chowdhry has a daughter that uses the bus 3 times fortnightly to return home when finishing sixth form early.
