Volcano-like pavement bubble reported to Highways department

A large pavement bubble is providing a safety risk to users of Romford Road.  CRRA have never seen a pavement defect like this before which is believed to have occurred due to excess rain we have been having in the last few weeks.

The peak of the bubble is at least 1.5ft high and the length is 3-4ft. Next to the huge bubble is a reciprocal dip, both of these pose a serious trip hazard.

A report of the problem has been made to the Essex Highways team.  Our ref is: 2688759.

We have already received an email response that states:

Reference Number: 2688759
Issue: footway defects
Location: ROMFORD ROAD

Current status: awaiting inspection

We are aware of this issue's urgency. Our inspection team will assess this matter and take appropriate action within 24 hours.

Regards,

Essex Highways

We will continue to update you throughout the day.
