A car has crashed into a lamp post in the central island on Romford Road (vehicle was travelling towards Lambourne Road)  leaving the streetlight in a precarious position.

We have been advised by a local resident that the accident occurred due to poor lighting and treacherous conditions.  Apparently the person involved in the crash came our relatively unscathed.

However residents have long complained about excessive speeding on the road, ineffective speed calming measures, and poor lighting.

CRRA has recently called for a review of traffic speed on Romford Road near the entrance of Woolhampton Way on the side of Romford Road leading towards . This is due to pressure felt by drivers slowing down to turn into Woolhampton and associated roads.

A few weeks ago a car travelling at over 70 mph overtook Chairman Wilson Chowdhry on the inside and blocked the road, in a case of road rage shared on our community whatsapp. The driver of the other car and his colleague threatened violence due to their aggravation that Mr Chowdhry did not move out of their way. This was despite Mr Chowdhry being very close to the right-hand filter lane to enter Woolhampton way on the opposite side of Romford Road heading towards Lambourne Road.

There is also a noticeable elevation of vehicle noise during the evenings, when speeding cars traverse the road. Many local residents have raised concerns about this with CRRA.

Hannah Chowdhry has reported the incident to local police (as a camera warning sign is on the floor) and to Essex Council.

CRRA will continue to pursue police checks of speeding during the evenings.
