Another Thames Water Debacle for Chigwell

Gas and water works taking place by Chigwell Hall on the High Road.

I have received news that Thames Water have had another leak today and are repairing burst pipes along the High Road, Chigwell.  Residents of High Mead Chigwell were first alerted to the concern when they noticed a reduction in their gas supply.

Initially people in homes in the area noticed a reduction in gas feeding into their stoves, cookers and central heating. After many had forked out the costs to have a Gas Safety engineer check their pipes and boilers, they discovered that their gas supply boxes had been submerged in deep water resulting in poor performance and loss of gas.

Calls to Thames Water then revealed that the flooding was due to a burst mains pipe on Chigwell, High Road.

Epping Forest District Cllr Brian Sandler has informed Wilson Chowdhry today, that he has seen a regular pattern of repairs and leaks that seem quite cyclical across Chigwell. Mr Chowdhry during his two years in Chigwell has noticed leaks recurring in three places, Abridge road, Manford Way and Hainault Road.

Each burst pipe takes several days to repair causing huge traffic issues, in addition to the significant loss of a valuable resource. Furthermore, the water does untold damage to the surface and depths of our roads, to the properties of Chigwell residents during this latest debacle and health and hygiene issues.

We again ask people to sign our petition calling for Thames to make good this ongoing problem, with a permanent solution.  If replacing the entire old Iron/Lead pipe network with plastic/PVC pipes is the solution then this must be introduced, immediately.

Only last week we reported the Thames water flooding and listed the last water outages in Chigwell Row and yet nothing seems to change.  Please sign our petition (here)
