Fears grow as Coronavirus gets closer to Chigwell Row.

Today Davenant High School has closed down its year 12 classes after a confirmed case of Coronavirus was registered for one of their pupils.

Many beleaguered students who had just returned to school after the longest school summer holiday in UK history, were required to vacate the school under emergency conditions, after only having returned for two weeks.

Now Hannah has been told she must stay away from school for the next 14 days, with all her year group. For Hannah this has bene hard as she has just begun to understand her surroundings and made new friends, after leaving King Solomon High School.

Hannah Chowdhry a year 12 student at the school said:

"It is really frightening.

"Hearing about the virus and its impact is one thing but when it's this close to you, well that's a more intense situation.

"After the extended time at home due to the pandemic lockdown, I was really looking forward to getting back into my studies and making new friends.

"This temporary period of self-isolation for 2 weeks is going to be mind-numbing.

"I thought the wait and confusion around GCSE's was difficult, but if these closures keep happening, any form of schooling will be a real mess.

"I am worried that I and other children will not be able to cope with the pressure, but also fear the same pressure is on our teachers, who have to pull things together despite the chaos."

Hannah added:

"The school has been very professional and has kept us all at ease.

"The have made it extremely easy to understand what will happen next, but even then I am praying for a vaccine to be found soon."

Chairman of the Chigwell Row Residents Association, Wilson Chowdhry, said;

"Further time off school for the children caught up in the pandemic is inevitable, but that does not make it easy to cope with.

"Residents of Chigwell Row must stay vigilant and follow government guidelines and advice from medical professionals.

"The impact of infection will be different on all of us, but prevention is always the best safeguard.

"I will be reopening my account with the NHS Responder App today, as the rise in infections has now increased the number of people relying on the service."

It is still possible to volunteer to be an NHS Responder (here)
