All Saints Church calls for donors to support Christian Aid week



The Revd. Paula Preston, Acting Team Rector for The Parish of Chigwell and Chigwell Row and The Vale of Roding Benefice, has sent a short message regarding Christian Aid Week.  We share this below for you.


This week is Christian Aid Week, an annual  fundraising drive that has been organised by British Churches during the second week of May since 1957 and we at All Saints’ are taking part, in a covid conscious way, this year

Christian Aid works with 700 local organisations across 50 developing countries. Working with poor communities, it trains people to deal with the effects of climate and prepares them for the threat of natural disasters. These local organisations – or ‘partners’ – also work on HIV, training and education, health and sanitation and peace and reconciliation. https://www.christianaid.org.uk/appeals/key-appeals/christian-aid-week

"If local people would like to contribute there are gift envelopes pinned to the church door. 

"Filled envelopes can be posted through the Vicarage door and I will make sure the donations go direct to the charity."

Gathering Hope: Community Vigil Offers Solace Amidst Grief for Daniel Anjorin

READ SKY NEWS ARTICLE (HERE) On the solemn morning of May 5th, 2024, a community gathered in mourning following the tragic loss of 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin, whose life was violently taken in an inexplicable assault by an assailant wielding a sword. The assailant, identified as Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, a Spanish-Brazilian national residing in Newham, east London, has been charged with Daniel's murder, as well as two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article. The senseless attack on April 30th resulted in the hospitalization of two police officers and two members of the public, all suffering severe injuries.
